Modifying Herbs
Reishi: Traditional Asian healers have used Reishi mushrooms to strengthen the immune system and promote longevity for thousands of years. In China it is known as the "mushroom of immortality".
Reishi has a taste of SWEET, MILD and a temperature of WARM.
Reishi, and other medicinal mushrooms contain polysaccharides, large, complex molecules that are proven immunomolulators. Many current studies are exploring whether the immunomodulatory effects of medicinal mushrooms will prove effective in preventing heart disease, reducing the risk of dangerous blood clots, fighting cancer cells and increasing the potency of cancer treatments.
Reishi is a particularly useful clinical herb for helping to reduce fatigue, "calm the spirit", promote restful sleep, and reduce anxiety and nervousness in people who have deficiency, or adrenal weakness. Reishi extracts have a long history of use for respiratory problems and some preliminary modern clinical trials from China are encouraging. Reishi is recommended for chronic allergic rhinitis, respiratory allergies in general, asthma, and bronchitis.
There are no notable cautions or known herb drug interactions for Reishi mushrooms.
Eucalyptus: Australian aborigines have relied on Eucalyptus for centuries for soothing painful joints and healing skin lesions.
Eucalyptus has a taste of SPICY and a temperature of WARM.
The most common, enduring, and substantiated medical uses for Eucalyptus are its power to ease nasal congestion and quell cough. Many commercial cough and cold remedies feature Eucalyptus.
Clinical studies indicate Eucalyptus can clear congestion associated with cold and flu, control earache pain, treat cuts and scrapes, ease muscle and joint pain, and fight gum disease.
Caution should be used with inflammatory diseases of the bile ducts and gastrointestinal tract and in liver disease. Because of its potency, eucalyptus should not be given to a small child.

Eyebright: Historically, Eyebright was used as a topical treatment of many ocular inflammatory conditions including blepharitis, conjunctivitis and sties.
Eyebright has a taste of BITTER and a temperature of COOL.
Eyebright contains glycosides, flavonoids and tannins that account for its astringent and anti-inflammatory properties.
Eyebright is particularly useful for red or inflamed eyes, conjunctivitis and sties. As a mild decongestant, it is also excellent to stop runny discharges due to allergies and other sinus problems.
There are no notable cautions or known herb drug interactions for Eyebright.
