Modifying Herbs
Tangerine Oil: Tangerine works
to strengthen digestion, increase the appetite
and alleviate vomiting. It also acts as an expectorant
and antitussive and is beneficial to the lungs.
Tangerine Peel is one of the most important and
widely used Chinese herbs. It contains small amounts
of the alkaloid synephrine, a nervous system stimulant,
bronchodilator, and mucus-drying agent.
There are no notable cautions or known herb drug
interactions for Tangerine Oil.
Tangerine Oil has a taste of BITTER, SWEET and
a temperature of WARM.
Elecampane: Elecampane can be
useful as a diuretic, a digestive tonic, a diaphoretic,
an expectorant, an antiseptic, an astringent and
a gentle stimulant. It has been used for centuries
to treat certain diseases of women as well as
lung conditions, dropsy and skin problems.
Elecampane has a taste of ACRID, BITTER and a
temperature of WARM.
As an expectorant, Elecampane is useful for respiratory
tract disorders such as chronic cough and bronchitis.
It is also used to stimulate digestion, improve
assimilation, alleviate diarrhea and for its antimicrobial
and vermifugal properties.
The inulin in Elecampane root is widely distributed
in fruits, vegetables and plants. It is classified
as a food ingredient, not an additive and is considered
safe to eat. Nevertheless, people with a confirmed
sensitivity to inulin should avoid Elecampane.
Alantolactone can be an irritant to the intestinal
tract and, along with other sesquiterpene lactones
in Elecampane, may cause localized irritation
in the mouth.
Pregnant or nursing women should not use Elecampane.
