Modifying Herbs

Artichoke Leaf: Artichoke Leaf has been used for centuries as a diuretic and an herb that strengthens liver function by increasing bile production. Because of its bitter taste and medicinal effect, many cultures use artichoke as a flavoring agent in liquors designed to be consumed before meals to stimulate the production of digestive juices.

Artichoke has a taste of BITTER, SALTY and a temperature of COOL.

Artichoke Leaf is a proven digestive aid that can protect the liver, relieve digestive problems and support healthy cholesterol balance. It may also be useful for weight reduction because it decreases the fat content of the blood and increases digestive efficiency.

Studies have demonstrated Artichoke's ability to protect the liver and possibly even to help liver cells regenerate. Artichoke is particularly helpful in relieving gastrointestinal problems that result from an inability to adequately process fats, a result of poor bile secretion. A 2001 study indicated that Artichoke may also ultimately prove an effective treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Because secreting Bile helps the liver regulate the production of Cholesterol, Artichoke can be an effective cholesterol regulator. As a result, some pharmaceutical manufacturers are adding the Artichoke constituent Cynarin to their cholesterol lowering drugs.

Peppermint Oil: Peppermint Oil has long been used for both its medicinal benefits and distinctive flavor.

Peppermint has a taste of AROMATIC, SPICY and a temperature of COOL.

Unlike other mints, Peppermint Oil contains the powerful therapeutic ingredient menthol. Peppermint Oil acts as a muscle relaxant, particularly in the digestive tract. It can also reduce the inflammation of nasal passages.

Specifically, Peppermint Oil is used to treat Irritable Bowel Syndrome, ease nausea, control flatulence and diverticular disorders, improve digestion, reduce heartburn, fight bad breath, control muscle aches and chronic pain, clear congestion and cough related to colds and allergies, and help control mild asthma.
